This game is just plain fun ! I bought the PDF earlier today, because I have always loved dogs (well, Dawgs, in the spirit of the game).
This is a very rules-light, easy-to-learn RPG filled with fascinating facts about dogs on almost every page. Its a great little game to introduce young gamers to roleplaying.
Kids do love dogs !
I know my daughter does.
I downloaded the game earlier today, as I said, and within an hour we had it printed, and we already have some characters ready to go (the character-generation system is very, very simple).
That's one of the things I look for in a good RPG. A quick-and-easy character set-up system that gets you going in a matter of minutes.
Add in a rules-set that is light, and easy to learn, and not too heavy on the combat and this is, indeed, a great young people's game.
I would recommend this game to anyone who wants a quick, easy little RPG; either as an introduction to roleplaying, maybe for a younger player, or just as a light-hearted campaign for the regular gaming group to enjoy as a break from the serious job of wandering through dangerous dungeons !
The PDF is a black-and-white affair with a front cover designed to look like an old, early 80s RPG - complete with "bends" and ware-marks on the cover and a sticker hinting the core-book was found languishing on the shelves of some second-hand gaming store somewhere.
But, this PDF only costs $4.99 - and it is worth a lot more !
Give DAWG a try, and you'll agree- roleplaying has finally, really gone to the dogs !
Oh, and if you do grab a copy of DAWG, be sure to check out the two adventures for the game also available here at Kenzer.
I can't wait to join my daughter for a DAWG adventure in ancient Egypt !!
